Homework is a valuable means of reinforcing work started in school and extending learning. It is set in all subjects on a two week rota system. Pupils are given Planners in which they should write details of homework set. Homework will not always be written. Reading, research, making, thinking, learning etc. will be set as the teacher thinks.If parents have any problems or questions about homework, they should, in the first instance, contact the child’s class teacher. If they wish to make a formal complaint about the school homework policy or the way it is implemented; parents should put their complaint in writing as stated in the Complaints Procedure Policy.During this process we looked at the latest research about homework, and what many similar Middle Schools had in place. After much investigation and discussion with teachers, parents and students, we are ready to share our homework policy with the community. Our hope is that this will clarify our shared beliefs about homework, and have a clear.
Homework is considered a vital part of the educational process because it extends learning beyond the regular school day. Homework can help students develop good study habits and organizational skills, practice and reinforce concepts learned in the classroom, and develop self-discipline and independence.Teachers will issue an Infinite Campus Message communicating to the parent that an assignment is missing, however, the student is responsible for diligence and honesty in his or her work and should not rely on an Infinite Campus Message should a teacher, due to the volume of assignments collected, not realize that an assignment is missing.
